General Dizziness/Vertigo

Dizziness can be described as disorientation in space, feelings of lightheadedness, giddiness, or faintness in the head. Vertigo can be described as spinning of the environment. While vertigo is a symptom specific to a pathology of cranial nerve VIII (vestibulocochlear nerve) and the pathway between the inner ear and the brain, dizziness is more generalized and can be a symptom of numerous conditions. The physical therapist will include a thorough review of the individual's subjective complaints as part of the initial evaluation. This information along with the objective findings, will help determine the physical therapy plan of care.
